Indiana Dunes run

Almost halfway through the run at Indiana Dunes (last weekend), I am pretty sure that this place is trying to kill me! I injured myself both times Hannah and I ran here. The first time we were here (a month ago), I tripped on the tree roots protruding out of the ground and fell on my face. Luckily, it wasn't too serious with just a few minor cuts on my elbow and hands. Last weekend, as we jumped over a fallen tree, I missed my step, and sustained more serious bruises on my shin - there were some deep cuts that weren't healing after a week :( . I have to admit these falls were mostly my fault for keeping the lease between Jet and me too short, and there isn't enough room for both of us to maneuver.

Well, why am I putting my "life" out there, pushing so hard? Because (in a moment of enthusiasm), Hannah and I signed up for a 50K run on end the second week of April :/ So at the moment, we are trying to keep our to our running schedule, and be prepared for the race.

Well, today is our long-run day again.. and here we go. However, upon my request, Hannah agreed that we are going to Palos instead of the "place that is trying to kill me" :). #toughen_up

Wedding anniversary at Revolution Brewery

Cannot believe that I have been married to this woman for 5 years! It is not always smooth-sailing, not always lovey-dovey, but I believe that we love each other enough to overcome all obstacles in our way. To celebrate our wedding anniversary, we decided to go to Revolution Brewery.

I ordered a couple of glasses of stout, while Hannah enjoyed her pale ale. She ordered a burger to go with her ale, and I had a fried chicken steak. It was a good lunch - we ate, we talked about the future, about the past...

Hannah asked me what I have learnt about myself and her after these five years, and at the moment, I couldn't really think of it - maybe it was the 13% AC stout, or maybe I am just slow :) However, here it is:

After five years, I look at myself, and realize that I am a much better person because of Hannah, but, most times, I do not remember that, sometimes, I forget that! After these five years, I learnt that Hannah is actually a very brave woman - it takes a lot of bravery for her to bear with my erratic temperament, and still wakes up everyday, and say to herself and to me "I love you, you crazy man" :)

Happy anniversary. I love you, woman :)

Lakefront brewery and some charity at Nando's

Happy New Year (or Happy belated New Year)! Looking back, it has been a while since we published any updates, and the number of posts for 2015 and 2016 is way lower than previous years. Hannah and I promise to be more active this new year, and keep everyone updated on what is happening in our lives in Chicago.

I took a skive day on Friday to go to Milwaukee. We were to pick up a fiddle leaf fig tree which I found on Craigslist, and since we are going to travel 2 hours north, we decided to make a day trip of it. And Hannah found exactly the place - Lakefront Brewery. We had lunch (sorry forgot to take pictures of the food before we gorged ourselves with delicious beer-battered fries, pretzel bites and wurst. And of course, there was craft-beer. We had a glass each as a starter, and Hannah carried on to order another sampler, so that we could decide which beer we like best. We ended up taking home a growler of "My turn: Mike" (hazelnut nutty brown ale).

Finally after waiting for nearly a month, Nando's opened its door at Hyde Park today (Saturday)! And to celebrate the opening, they are donating 100% of their earning that day to Kenwood High School. Hannah and I decided that we should do out part for charity as well, and headed over to Nando's for dinner. We ordered a chicken platter - It is still how we remember it.. very spicy and good! Even though the place was packed with people, the people in-charge of Nando's were very well-organised, and we were seated and enjoying our food in about 15mins.

And rounding up the first post of 2017, let me introduce the new family member - "Lucky" :)
