Coral tank growth

We (Hannah and I) decided we should change the name "fish tank" into "coral tank" since we haven't had any fish in there since the start! We may get some fish in the future (when I am back from Taiwan), but in the meantime, it will be a coral tank :)

There are some nice growth on the corals - encrusting on the rocks, new polyps, gaining some colors etc. However, it is hard to capture the colors with the camera. We probably need a longer lens and a tripod. Here are some pics.

Is it spring already?

[Updated] Photos of the newly-bloomed orchid!

Hannah and I have been really sick since last Friday. The cold that had been going around the university finally caught up with both of us. Although these two weeks is the mid-semester break, we still have marking responsibilities. Therefore, it really sucks to be sick, and face that huge pile of unmarked scripts.

It seems that Spring is here! Again! Time just slips by. There is supposed to be a nasty cold storm coming through today, which will make it feel like mid-winter again, but we have warmer days to look forward to. The other day, I noticed there is a small bud on the grapevine - which is definitely a sign of spring coming. The orchids are blooming really nice this year as well. It has been dormant for two years. I fragged them two years ago, and I think it takes time for them to recuperate. I think it's time to get some nice terracotta pots and bring these nice flowers indoors :)

Fish tank update

Got a few frags (small coral pieces) from one of the local aquarist (Reuben). He was also kind enough to throw in a few free ones! :) I had him delivered the frags to the University. The secretary of the department received the items, and she was so worried for the corals because there were "LIVE FISH - HANDLE WITH CARE" signs all over the box. She was asking if she can open it to take a look when I picked up the item. She was expecting "FISH" but I told her it was all corals. Next time, I will let her take a look when there are really fishes in the boxes :)
