Kettle Moraine camping and running

Hannah and I have been running regularly on every weekend preparing for our big race. We usually run on the Palos Trails, but last weekend we decided that we were going camping at Kettle Moraine, and do our practice runs (Sun - 16miles, Mon - 10 miles) there as well. Grace, Dominic had went camping with us there some time ago, and Hannah and I thought that it would be a good place to get away from the city for a couple of days. The camp was about 2 hours drive from Chicago, so we set off Sunday morning, went to Walmart to get some camping supplies (portable stove, pots and pans, food), and off we went to the campsite.

The campsite was really empty when we arrived there. There was probably just a few more people there, so we knew immediately it was going to be a nice weekend! I was horrible WRONG! The run on Sunday was horrible for me - I bonked so hard. I was so hot, dehydrated, hungry, and just out of breath. Hannah thought that it was because I didn't have breakfast nor enough water through the day when I was driving, and the only food I had the whole day was McDonalds chicken nuggets. I felt loved when Hannah just started feeding me water and break bread when we finally managed to run back to camp. Needless to say, Jet and Lilith were tired as well :) NOT JUST ME.

The next morning, we had bacon and coffee, and off we went for our 10-mile run. This time I felt much better. I did not run as fast as Hannah, but I finished in good time as well... I could get used to this camping and running thing.. living like a running bum :P

Good luck to us for this weekend's race.
