I left Auckland at 7 am after one tiny mix-up...there were 2 JetStar flights going to Melbourne within 15 minutes of each other, except going to two different airports. I almost got on the wrong one because I didn't realise. Luckily the machine buzzed instead of beeped!
Then I made it through the 6.5 hour flight to Singapore! I had an 8 hour layover in Changi, which was very long, but I can't think of a better airport to spend it in! I saw the butterfly garden, the kinetic sculpture (google it for a video, it was REALLY cool), and lots of other things. One if my favorite parts was called the Enchanted Garden. It had huge tile and stained glass flower things filled with real flowers, a koi pond, tons of ferns and lots if light and sound effects that were triggered by your presence - for instance, the floor had LED lights that twinkled when you walked on them!
I rang in the new year while eating Laksa and listening to a lounge singer belt out Auld Lang Syne.
But I finally made it onto the plane for Taiwan ( only non-Asian) and four hours later, I landed! My first sight in Taiwan...
Now I am off with my husband (yay!) to explore!
