Day 12

Ok, so I know I am quite behind on blogging, so I have decided to just put up pictures with brief descriptions of a few days until things calm down and I have more time for writing. We are currently traveling throughout the rest of Taiwan and therefore time and access to the internet are hard to find. Hopefully this will tide you over :)

Sunday (of last week) we had decided to take it easy because of Sonny's tiredness. So we went to check out Guang Hua Digital Plaza which is a huge mall full of computers and parts. I purchased an aftermarket battery for my laptop back home as the old one is swollen. The Taiwanese version has a warranty, a bigger capacity, and a price tag of a quarter the Apple one. Score! Afterward we wandered into a weekend market next door and I got to try wild boar cooked the traditional way by some native Taiwanese tribe. It was truly amazing and one of the most delicious thing I have eaten here.

The entire surrounding area is all computer stores as well. Just look at the signs down this street! Next we decided to head one MRT stop over to Main Station to go see Camera Street, which is actually several blocks full of camera shops, but first we wandered through the several kilometers of underground malls that surround the station. We only bought a camera cleaning kit there, as the lens prices were basically comparable to NZ prices. I did however, get Sonny to finally buy a new pair of jeans and another pair of pants as well as two t-shirts at a Japanese store called UniQLo. He needed a new pair of pants desperately and was resisting :)

It ended up being pretty fortuitous that we went to the computer street that day as the next day Sonny's laptop decided to finally break, and we ended up having to go back and find a repair shop. The good news is we are getting a really great rate on the repair because they quoted us a flat rate, and we know that the repair will be a big one - maybe even new logic board big.
