Road Trip Day 18 - Gentle Annie's Beach, Molihinui

Campervaning in the South Island means that we need to spend a lot more time driving on the road than on the North Island. We had a very long drive today, but it doesn’t mean that we are not enjoying ourselves. The scenery in the South Island is absolutely stunning, with the majestic mountains in the backdrop, and the streams and rivers at every corner, driving here is an attraction by itself.

We drove through Buller Gorge (Nelson - Westport). Upper Buller Gorge was just stunning with the high mountains, and the road that we drove on that was craved out from the side at Lower Buller Gorge was just magical! A lot water can go through the Gorge after the snow melts. In 1928, the water level (after the snow melts) was higher than the road that we drove on!

As we passed by Nelson, we HAD to stop and get KFC! I blamed Selena because few nights ago  she was talking to me about Texas Fried Chicken and Sweet Tea, and I just couldn’t resist getting my hands on some KFC fried chicken. However, Hannah and I know that Selena would totally disapprove of us getting KFC as there is NO replacement for Texas Fried Chicken.

We finally reached the campsite - The Cowshed!! It was a very nice, relax holiday park. There wasn’t too many people around, and the owner is not around as well! Hannah went to go to the counter to pay, but there wasn’t anyone there except a sign saying that “campers can pay between 9 - 10am tomorrow”  :) Jet and Lilith “made friends” (as best as they could) with the in-house black labrador. They were running around the beach together (Jet might have pushed the labrador around a bit), chasing, and barking at each other.
